Two incredible events tonight for basketball fans. Even if you hate the NBA, you should check out both of these at 9:30pm. This is shaping up to be one of the possibly most memorable nights for the NBA in a long time.
1) Kobe Bryant final game and retirement (ESPN2)
Tonight, Kobe Bryant retires from the NBA. 20 years in the league. At 37 years old, he's played over half his life in the NBA. Along with Michael Jordan, there has been arguably no other NBA player who has been as competitive as Kobe. The NBA will miss him.
His 81-point game (highlights in this video) goes down as the second-greatest scoring game in NBA history. Only Wilt Chamberlain had more (100 points in one game).
As a long-time Lakers fan, the Lakers are going to have big shoes to fill in replacing Kobe (and the Lakers team is awful right now, too).
2) Golden State opportunity for 73 wins (ESPN)
Golden State has the opportunity for the most wins in NBA history. If they win, they'll be 73-9, besting the 72-10 record of the Chicago Bulls in the 90's.
Golden State plays amazing basketball and has some of the best shooting I've ever witnessed in basketball.
Hopefully they'll pull out a W tonight.
