KSU: Despite boasting one of the Big 12's best defenses, the Wildcats -- uncharacteristically under Bill Snyder -- have not been able to close out tight games this season. K-State could easily be in the thick of the Big 12 title race. Instead, blown leads against West Virginia and Oklahoma State have left K-State in the middle of the Big 12 standings. The Wildcats could still have a very solid season. But they'll need to be stronger in the fourth quarter than they've been.

Baylor: To the Bears' credit, they did not quit in the loss at Oklahoma, even though they were never really in the game after halftime. But with QB Seth Russell now out for the year, it's not unthinkable that Baylor could lose out, especially considering the avalanche of distractions off the field. One of the few bright spots from the weekend was freshman QB Zach Smith, who made some nice plays in relief of Russell. With Jarrett Stidham having left, Smith is Baylor's heir-apparent at QB.
