Interesting information in the story I read today about the new NFL PAT rules. 1 point conversion by kick will be from the 15 (making it a 32 or 33-yard FG) while 2 point conversion will remain from the 2-yard line. In the article it said that NFL kickers have had a success rate of 91.6% on 32 and 33-yard FG's over the last 10 years and 47.4% on 2 point conversions during that time. Using those success rates a team would score more points on average over time going to 2 than going for 1.
I will now hear a multitude of tired reasons why it will still be stupid to go for 2, OK, but just sayin'...
