Colorado went down to Seattle last night in the coveted CBI tournament.
OUCH !
The NIT is a respectable tournament (minus the frustration of not making the big dance), but the CBI should be for non-power five conference teams only.
Plus, there are plenty of teams in the smaller conferences with winning records that did not make the NCAA or NIT.
Bottom line, if you don not have a 500 or better record, you should not receive an invite to any tourney... even the CBI.
I would like to think had K-State received an invite to the CBI, that the University would have turned it down. Who knows... maybe K-State did turn it down. K-State's record was the same as Colorado's but with far more quality wins (better BPI & RPI). How about TCU ... I wonder if the frogs turned down the CBI (they thought that they had an outside shot at a NIT bid).
