I'm not bashing the kid, just passing along some info. I work at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and was chatting with our coaches - Coach Majerle and Coach Lee. They weren't aware that I was a KSU alum until the end. I asked about Nigel. They said they both knew him and just saw him this past weekend. I asked if we recruited him and offered, they both said not really and no. When I asked why, they said he's maybe 6'8", thin frame, and only plays the 5, plus played at a Div 2 low level high school. I told them I went to KSU where he signed. I asked, "a project at best?" They both kinda grimaced and said yeah, maybe. As we were ending, Coach Lee turned and said, I wish we could be more positive for you.
Nothing earth shattering and most we already knew. I just found it odd that our GCU coaches scour the world for talent, but didn't even really look at a 3* local kid (even though they knew him and watched him play), but somehow BW got connected to him and offered.
I hope he proves everyone wrong.
