It's not like this post is groundbreaking, but I'm venting anyway. I can live with a loss, as embarrassing as it was. I really didn't think we probably had a chance at the playoff this year anyway, I was hopeful this team would be a pleasant surprise, but that's over now. I think the thing that bothers me more than anything is we have a chance to win one for the conference and we not only lose, but lose to the Iowa State of the SEC. For this conference to be secure in the future our teams have to show up in the non conference against the P5. We failed miserably to do our part. We did exactly what the football world expects from a Big 12 school and further reinforces to them that our conference doesn't belong. In light of Baylor's pathetic performance this year and Texas being 1-2 against P5, we could do a little to help and instead we put another nail in the conference coffin and took another step toward heading toward the Mountain West.
I'm embarrassed for our football program and quite frankly I'd like to see Bill Snyder a little more pissed off about it. I'm quite certain that someone from Vandy will get a nice hand-written letter from Bill and he will go on doing his part to make a difference in the lives of youngsters. I love that, of course, but Kansas State is going to make a difference in the lives of kids playing in the Mountain West or Conference USA. If by some miracle we happen to win the conference (which I hold out very little hope of, btw) we basically guarantee that a Big 12 school is left out of the playoff again, unless, of course, somehow Vandy goes on to beat Alabama this weekend or at least win their division. Yeah... that's gonna happen. So, we get the privilege of rooting for our team to win the conference so that we can help kill it. Isn't that lovely.
