K-State hoops recruiting is what it is right now. The upwards trajectory of the K-State basketball team the last few weeks and most notably the last two victories do help some. The better they play the better the 2021 class looks.
It will never be a class that blows you away, but if Logan Landers and Maximus Edwards can be what they are billed to be, they can be nice additions to an already solid core. But there is still some time on the trail to add a high school recruit or transfer option.
Obviously Wesley Cardet would be a slam dunk get. DY noted in his latest notebook how K-State is still in the mix at the moment. Wouldn't call the Wildcats the favorite, but the added information that he may be forced to push his recruitment to the class of 2022 gives the Wildcats more time to impress the talented and big 4-star guard. What is clear he wants to for sure be used as a combo guard rather than a wing and he is taking that into consideration for where he will be headed. Whoever gets him gave the best sell for a heavy guard role.
The transfer portal hasn't always been so friendly for K-State but with a projected transfer heavy offseason awaiting it could give them a chance to capitalize if they so choose. I don't really have any other name right now as a viable options outside of the Robert Morris transfer AJ Bramah, but he has been in the mix with Gonzaga.
John Hugley could be interesting as he has dealt with some disciplinary issues at Pitt. He hasn't played a game in 2021 but has yet to enter the portal. Don't know if the staff would like to take that chance, but maybe. If they want to fill up all 13 spots then taking him wouldn't hurt at all unless he damages the culture. But two Pitt players have entered the transfer portal in the last three days which could be a sign they don't have the greatest culture to begin with.
But they really need a guard before anything else. Until I hear about more chatter about K-State transfer options, the high school recruit to keep an eye on is guard Reggie Bass. Picking between a top 4 of Illinois, Providence, Oregon State and K-State on March 19, his birthday. I feel a slight Illinois lean at the moment. Trying to do some digging to have a better idea.
2021 Kidtrell Blocker is on the offer watch. He doesn't have any P5 offers yet but he's a 6'5 guard who could be getting slept on considering many are planning on a transfer heavy offseason. Don't know a lot about him and it could be nothing, but K-State is keeping an eye on him.
