A couple years ago I mentioned a prominent booster, a regent and I had an idea the booster and I approached JC about. The concept would have tethered the whole regent system-- Junior College through colleges/universities--- back together along the lines that Senator Hensley and my grandfather had put in statute when as Representatives they pushed through legislation requiring every state supported college at any level to make credits more transferable etc. The 'part' that we wanted JC's cooperation for was to be the one who made formal application to the NCAA for a ruling which we were reasonably comfortable we would get. Long story I will only share if anyone cares to hear it BUT what is relevant now is that Currie when we told him it would give in state schools a huge advantage on recruiting Jayhawk Junior college kids he was down right rude. If he was always eyeing the UT job with a squeaky clean resume it makes sense he would not want to disadvantage the SEC nor create any more kids with special rules he would have to monitor. All I said at the time was that I found JC rude and arrogant comparable to the worst I had seen in my decades of business. Really couldn't understand why the short shrift but now it makes sense. Thanks Fitz once again you show why GPC is the best.
