I just read that Chuckie wants to provide me $25k in hero pay for being an essential worker. My wife will also qualify for the $25k. However, if that $25k gets added to our pay, we will be inching closer to the dreaded 1% and will certainly lose some deductions. I will also be woefully under withheld and subject to penalty if it is taxable. On the other hand, it is a free $50k (depending on whether it is taxed or not). I thought the whole hero concept was already baked into what we pay our first responders, etc. I know it was baked into my compensation that I am on call 24 hours per day/7days a week. What to do??????
