K-State has four solid running backs, but two of the four appear to be more than just solid.

Dalvin Warmack – 9 rushing attempts – 10.78 yards per carry.
Alex Barnes – 8 rushing attempts – 9.12 yards per carry.
Charles Jones – 16 rushing attempts – 5.19 yards per carry (again, very solid).
Justin Silmon – 10 rushing attempts – 4.40 yards per carry.

I realize that most of the yardage for Barnes came when K-State had the game in hand and you could say the same thing about “some” of Warmack’s production. But Warmack showed the same skills in his two touches against Stanford and on Saturday before FAU started to give up.

Nothing against Charles Jones or Justin Silmon, they both run hard and appear to be assignment sound, but sometimes you have to give way to better talent. Warmack and Barnes have an added dimension that I just don’t see with Charles & Justin.

And I would say bring Charles in on passing downs for pass protection, but Warmack can turn a drop down pass into 15 to 20 yard gain in a hurry.

I fully expect Charles to start against Mo State … and I fully expect Justin to get some snaps, but Warmack & Barnes will get more carries.
It seems like Snyder & Staff are saving them for the Big 12. At least, I hope that’s the case.

PS> K-State has the #5 Total Defense ….not saying that will last, but still, it’s good to see.
