Okay, looking for some advice here. I'm taking my wife to NYC for our 25th anniversary. Everything is booked, so no need to suggest alternatives. This will be her first trip to NYC, and my first extended trip. We'll be there five days, in mid January.
Things I've already done there, and have a pretty good idea about:
9/11 Memorial and Museum (we will probably skip this fo rour trip--for me, it was so sobering that I was in no mood to enjoy myself for the rest of that day), MOMA, the Met, Chinatown, Statue of Liberty, miscellaneous sight-seeing,probably a few other things I am forgetting.
Restaurants
I've eaten at a couple decent places, but any tips on food would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about Keen's for steak, but have not been there. Would be interested in a variety of recommendations here, lunch and dinner.
Broadway Plays
Some that will be playing while we are there include:
Hamilton (obviously sold out, and I'm probably not willing to pay secondary market prices),
The Front Page (John Goodman and Nathan Lane)
Waitress
Chicago
les Liasons Dangereuses (Liev Schrieber and Janet McTeer)
The Humans
The Present
Aladdin, Lion King
Any recs here?
Museums
We will definitely go to MOMA and the Met. My wife loves museums (one reason I wanted to take her to NYC). Also thinking about Museum of Natural History, and maybe Guggenheim. Thoughts?
Lincoln Center---Opera, Jazz, and/or NY Philharmonic
I've been to one Opera in my life. Was too young to appreciate it. Not sure it this will make it onto our itinerary, but la Boheme, and an operatic version of Romeo and Juliet will both be playing while we are there.
Other stuff we should do?
TIA for your suggestions!
