I'm in my late 60's and grew up in the sixties and went to Kansas State 67-72. I have played video games on consoles since pong, and although my reflexes have slowed I can still enjoy most solo missions in games by adjusting the difficulty setting to my needs. I want to let you guys know about Mafia 3 which takes in the sixties in New Orleans. It is a trip back in time as all the vehicles from the 50's and 60's populate the streets and you can steal them or drive them all! The radio stations give local and national news from the time period and so is the clothing and hair styles. I got killed in this game often until I got used to the game controls. Let's be honest I got killed a lot all the way through but I loved the game. The story line is very well written and believable with national implications to events of the time. News of Vietnam, protests, death of Kennedys, and Martin Luther King in the news reports as you advance. It's an open world of very good size. Lots of weapons available and people that are your associates and help you. There are street racing challenges and side missions where you collect Vargas paintings, Playboy magazine covers, and other things. You are trying to take over all the various rackets in the New Orleans area, one at a time. You are a black man in the game who was a ranger in Vietnam. Warning the game is accurate for the time period and you will hear the N word used against you often and you are told your kind is not welcome in various places true to the unsegregated south. I highly recommend the game and found it interesting and challenging all the way through. There are multiple ways the game ends and you make the choices with several branches that can change the out-come, It takes a lot of time to get through the game but you will get hooked on it. There are different ways to attack an enemy hide-out so don't always take the most obvious approach. Best of all this game does take you back to the sixties in both bad and good ways and has an incredible sound track of original music by the original artists. If you have played it please add your thoughts.
