So its slow. Even the staffers are trolling for topics. Wish I had the film to link, but this was about 1985.
So, I'm on call on a Saturday morning. Have a patient asleep for hip surgery. Get a call from a buddy who lives an hour flight away. "We've got to go to the OSU game. We're going to win! I'll fly up and get you." After much argument I call another anesthesia person, who is still asleep on a very foggy morning. He comes in for relief. My friend flies in with a 300 ft high ceiling and away we go. I think the tower complained about 'scud running' or something like that. We land at Stillwater. The local flying club has a shuttle. Scalp 50 yard line tkts. Tight game. As I recall OSU scored a TD to go ahead with just minutes to go. The scoreboard pops up with something like "Cowboys 6-0". Our guys have the ball on about the 40, stand looking at the scoreboard, all pointing at it. And we march down the field to win with almost no time left. Nothing like bulletin board stuff from the scoreboard guy. We fly home and I walk into the OR with yet another hip patient waiting. Patients all did well. Some days are as HCBS says, "Special".
