Back in the day, colleges technically had JV squads or Freshman squads, much like you see in High School. Even Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul Jabbar could not play his Freshman year with the Varsity because of such rules. With our Football team, if you have a Redshirt, then you can bet your bottom dollar that we are going to use it unless you are something special and I mean really special. That grouped with injuries at your position as well. That poses to question, are we playing our best players every year or just playing those which we have available and not only that, but have seniority? Case in point, last year when we played the likes of Dylan Schnellenburg over Travis Green and Will Davis over Dakorey Johnson? I understand if they have problems off the field or butt heads with the coaches, but can we really say that for sure was the reason as to why we didn't play them to start off over lesser talented players? They seemed to show up against Auburn if I remember correctly. Then Travis Green blew out his knee and Dakorey was either injured or supposidely in the 'dog house' for whatever reason. Then all the stories about our JC so called busts. Derricott was forced to redshirt. Clinkscales came in late and played a handful of snaps. Riddle was forced to redshirt. All three left for reasons unknown, but everyone claims they couldn't make it in our system. Couldn't put in the work supposidely. Would it be wrong to assume that maybe they felt they weren't getting a fair chance given they were seeing less talented players get placed ahead of them? How they had more of a ladder to climb in order to see the field not because they weren't talented but because there was someone ahead of them based on nothing more than they had been their longer than them or had paid their dues?

And for those who are like, well it's obvious they weren't very good, because they are playing now at EKU or A&M CC, or Sams is at McNeese State, you all realize the reason for that is not that they aren't capable of going to another D1 school, but that they were forced to go that route because they can't afford to sit out another year and lose a year of eligibility right? They are or were screwed by K-State for not only redshirting them, but not playing them or leaving them with no other option. You have to sit out a year when you transfer between D1 schools, that is what you normally use your redshirt for, that is unless you've already used it oh I dunno, say in nearly every case that I just mentioned with the exception of Travis Green who left as a Graduate transfer to another D1 program coming off of his second blown knee. Think about that for a second.

Then I decided to look up how many Redshirt players we start compared to another team we have played to see if they do the same thing, meaning, Redshirt the majority of their players and debunking my claim that we aren't putting the best players we have on the field. I went with the team that kicked our *** 55-0, OU. Check out the stats:

22 Players Start - 11 on Offense, 11 on Defense. These are the starters for the game this year vs. OU.

OU Started

1- RS Fr.
4- True So.
0- RS So.

Total of 5 RS players and 17 true players with their RS available.
