Those wanting to see more young blood for recruiting should be hyped by Klein joining Coleman and Braet and now with two more openings more chances for a better mix of old and young on staff. If Mo retires then you are talking about a great chance to rebuild this staff in a way that would let Bill either coach longer or position for a hand off to Leavitt. Will be interesting if they don't fill Cox's position.before spring practice. Maybe a try out for Tre'?
This is an odd time to be hiring since we are looking this late into the break between last season and spring practices. My understanding is that the standard assistant coaches contracts are year to year and some are not calendar year but actually lapse with state fiscal year which typically is June. Not sure how much this would effect things since nearly any contract is voided with mutual consent. However I did hear Bob Stoops yesterday say that you owe some degree of loyalty to your contract and the school that hired you---and yes he had a nice plug for Bill helping him----so maybe some will be tied to the program until spring practice is over before they would move to another job .
MAYBE it is tied to Leavitt in an obtuse way. Say Leavitt was coming--in a nod and wink with Bill--and had some ass't coach hires he wanted from one of the many Florida programs. They are already in spring practice.
The moves that would make my day---and others I talk to have provided their thoughts about what Utopia looks like---Snyder to AD, Leavitt to HC, K. Lockett to ass't AD, and then add some new blood with Florida connections via Leavitt to the other vacant coaching positions. Would be easy to feel good going forward and Sean would have another coach beside his dad on his resume.
