is to start taking such tremendous physical play out of the game.
Watching big men on offense drop their shoulder, or hip check backing into the basket and move a defensive player 2 feet lifting them off the ground should be an offensive foul every time.
I like the fact that they are calling the fouls 20 feet away from the basket when defenders put their hands all over the offensive player on the dribble. There is so much of that crap, that takes away from basketball skill......if you initiate it you get the foul.
NHL hockey was just as bad before they re-instituted the 2 line pass. so much clutching and grabbing that slowed the game down, and allowed a lot of players on the ice who other wise were not fast enough to be on the ice. allow the 2 line pass and all of a sudden you need much more skill and speed to be out there. One of the best rule changes NHL has made in the last 10 years.
Basketball isn't quite that easy to make better with 1 rule change, but I feel like starting to recognize who is initializing the contact would be a huge help.
As stated last night. Wisconsin was going straight up, in so many cases it was Duke initiating the contact, who should get the foul? Getting back to the basic rules would help so much.
