I've noticed this season more than most (I know I saw it last year a couple games) that our opponents have two defensive calls. They either show blitz or not during our first "GO" by the QB and then wait to see if we audible. If we do then they change their defense immediately and no longer blitz, or it comes from the opposite side than where the QB read it from. It was very evident a few times yesterday when the TCU OLB got visibly upset by jumping his blitz early on the first go and changed out of the blitz. By doing this "check the sideline for audible" every play we are essentially allowing the defense to determine our play calls. The worst part is the opponents know this and are doing it on purpose to get us to run right into their protections.
Would love to head @KSULB52 observations on this. On a side note, it's awesome having him around!
