Are there any HS coaches on here?? Know there used to be at least a few and know there are some baseball junkies in here. Figured with the official start of practice today we might get a few guys to talk a little baseball - any level of baseball for that matter.
I am the asst coach for our HS team, were state runners up last year, have 7 guys returning who at least started a game in the state tournament. Pretty excited about the possibilities of this years team as well, just need to add a few missing pieces. For a small level school we have some pretty decent pitching, 3 kids who will be in the low to mid 80's with one of them potentially pushing upper 80's (he's a JR and getting some D1 looks currently, just needs to prove what he did last year as a Soph wasn't a fluke - and yes KSU has been in contact with him, specially over the summer/fall time). Have another kid who made a huge jump in velocity last year so excited to see what he can bring this year and another pitcher who transferred in from a rival school with some promise as he's only a Soph.
We start off our season with the defending 3a state champs, Wichita Indy. So pretty excited about that.
Also what is everyone's thoughts about the new baseball rules they will be changing to next year - basically going to be a bbcore style baseball - will be a softer core basically??
I'm also surprised nothing was changed about pitch count limits for this year as well. Figured they would adjust at least the lower end of those requirements.
