Paterno's last full 6 years coaching. In 2005 he was 79 years old (Bill Snyder is currently 78 years old).

2005: 11-1
2006: 9-4
2007: 9-4
2008: 11-2
2009: 11-2
2010: 7-6

So those are the seasons when Paterno was 79-84 years old. The years Snyder is about to get to.

The seasons right before 2005, Paterno had a losing record 4 of the 5 years and just 7 wins combined in 2003-2004.

If Snyder is healthy (he wasn't last offseason, but all reports are he is doing fine now) there is no reason he can't coach a few more years and have great success. Paterno showed it could be done, even at Snyder's age, and even after a bad stretch. And Snyder/K-State aren't coming off a bad stretch, just one "down" year this year. And Snyder's "down" years have been when the starting QB (both Ertz) has gotten hurt and missed essentially the whole season.

Count me as still believing Snyder is the man to get the job done in the near future. Again, assuming he is healthy. I think we are completely underrating the effects on this season of Snyder missing the offseason because of health problems. If he's healthy, I would expect next year's team to look like a Snyder coached team again... unlike the look of this year's Wildcats.

Should be make a change at O-coordinator? Based on the play calling this year and reports of dysfunction and tension, yeah he probably should. But thinking the O-coordinator needs to change is one thing, thinking Snyder should not be the head coach anymore because of a bad year from the O-coordinator is another.

I'm all for Bill Snyder in 2018. I think he's got magic left in him.
