Here's another angle to the "what has changed" since 2013 discussion. Penalties.
I took a friend of mine to the game Saturday, who is a CU fan (so his knowledge of watching us is limited). I remember recalling to him that I haven't seen a LHCBS team so undisciplined when it came to penalties. Those 2011 and 2012 teams NEVER shot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties. In fact, they were among the least penalized teams in the country those years.
When you play the way we do (ball control, bend but don't break, etc), you simply cannot afford to lose ground through penalties. However, this season, we are 54th in the country in terms of the # of penalties/game. In terms of total penalty yardage/game, we're 60th. That's just total unacceptable for how we want to play, and shows a lack of detail by our coaches.
When you look at what has transpired in our program since 2013, it kind of makes sense though. We've gotten away from the things that have made us successful in the past.
Something has changed with this staff. We aren't doing any of the things we used to do that made us successful.
