For years Juco players were blessing of talent on the K-State Roster. Will never forget the tenacity of Michael Bishop. Receivers McDonald, Morgan, Banks, etc making huge plays. Currently, other college programs have emulated K-State and signed many players from the Juco ranks. The players had an academic issue or physical limitation that kept them from signing with a D1 out of high school. The players went to Dodge, Garden or even Butler and paid there dues to get up to major college football.
I have two friends working there way up the ladder coaching Juco ball and hate it! Both these guys will admit that the commitment level is much greater at the top but the players have radically changed. Guys with enormous POTENTIAL just staying consistent at being lazy and not willing to grow up and be responsible for their actions and potential opportunities. Both coaches feel like baby sitters getting them to do enough to stay eligible and disciplined on the field. K-State got burned with Marvin Symons a few years ago and he was the exception. With Derricot, Allen and Clinkscales its possible that it may be the norm. If all three of these guys lived up to there potential we may have a different record. Jueda Jones seemed by accounts to have never lived to his potential and made the decision to leave.
