First and foremost, I am an extremely passionate diehard faithful Wildcat. Will always be.....nothing can change that!

My son is a senior at the University of Alabama. Of course we've come to enjoy rooting for the Tide, over the years, which leads me to my point. It is an extremely more enjoyable experience watching a team play to win versus a team playing "not to lose."

Granted, the stable of athletes at Alabama is unbelievable thus some may say it is unfair to compare. I'm not comparing the teams, I'm comparing the overall approach to gameday philosophies. Some of you may be surprised of the similarities I have recognized of the way Sabin approaches his overall program to that of coach Snyder. Attention to detail, doing your job (sound assignment discipline) accountability, and on and on.

The difference I see is Snyder's game day approach (when playing a real opponent), is to hope we are "assignment sound" and we beat our opponents by being more so. This is why we appear so methodical and frankly so predictable of late. With Alabama, Sabin has let Kiffin develop the offense and honestly it is a very aggressive mentality! Of course there are times Kiffin's calls are as boneheaded as they come, but one can say the play calling of Dimel's is as suspect as anyone's. As subtle the difference between program management there is between Sabin/Snyder, the difference in gameday philosophies couldn't be greater.

As an athlete, knowing life as a player at either institution is going to be extremely demanding (setting aside the obnoxious success of Alabama historically), where would you rather be? Playing to win vs. playing not to lose? I can tell you which team is more enjoyable to watch as a fan, and far less stressful to watch!

Dare I say, wouldn't it be nice to have a program under Snyder that is "Bold and daring"? I know that is blasphemy, but I can dream, can't I?

EMAW!
