Almost on cue we read Social Security is on life support and the implication is it needs to be fixed and would require bipartisan support.
Correct me if I am mistaken, but do we ever read food stamps or welfare are running out of money?
I have seen where the government has started calling SS a transfer payment along with the "war on poverty" boondoggles started under our "guns and butter" President, LBJ.
Remember whatever you subsidize you get more. So what is the count, now, of food stamp recipients?
Now the obvious is Social Security recipients are self funded and the the real transfer payments were not paid for by recipients. But, the at risk is the one not funded by our government. Of course, starting with LBJ again, the Fed "borrowed" from the SS trust fund. That's another story.
Only a government would rationalize this. But yet, liberals and socialists never learn from history or from their own experience that socialism never works. I assume if there isn't a hidden agenda, they presume, THIS time, a nonsensical and counter human nature system, will work.
