The Eagles enter the draft without a third-round pick. However, the team does have two fourth-round picks after receiving one as a compensatory selection in February. The Eagles are able to drop four picks in the first round and swap a fourth-round pick for a third-round selection.
In theory, that’s a pretty smart move, especially considering the lack of major needs on the roster. The Eagles acquiring a third-round pick would help them take advantage of the value on Day 2.

Following the trade, the Chiefs selected Louisiana Tech pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson. The Eagles, now in control of the 29th overall pick, selected Kansas State offensive tackle Dalton Risner.

Here’s Benjamin’s logic behind the pick:

“It’s not flashy, and the Eagles could easily jump in the other direction, moving up for a big name like Devin Bush or Ed Oliver. But Risner satisfies the need for a long-term tackle outside of Lane Johnson, especially with Jason Peters nearing his 40s.”
