Last night I turned on my Vizio TV and it worked like normal until I turned the channel and I had no picture but sound. So I thought it might be something with the cable, so I turned off the cable box and turned it back on. Still the same: no picture, but I had sound. So I turned everything off and unplugged the cable box. Then when I plugged the cable box back in, the cable box wouldn't even turn back on. Eventually, the cable box came back on, but I could never get picture back on my tv. I always had sound.
So I called the cable company and they basically determined that it's something wrong with the tv or my power strip. The thing is, the issue is still the same when I plug the tv directly into the wall. Nothing changes. The cable support tech told me that he had a Vizio and the same thing happened to him and he unplugged it overnight and everything worked fine the next day. So I unplugged the tv overnight and tried it again this morning and it still didn't work.
Finally, I called Vizio and they basically said they think it's probably my backlight and it will take just over $300 to fix it. At that point, I would just buy a new tv.
My tv is only 3 or 4 years old. It has never had any issues before. Does it sound like I have to get a whole new tv, repair it, or do any of you have any good suggestions? Everything has been plugged in to a power strip, but the issues persist when I plug the tv into the outlet and everything else plugged in to the power strip works. Perfect timing with March Madness.
