Decided to look up some stats after three basketball games.
Stokes is shooting 17% from the floor. He is hitting his free throws, which is great, particularly in close games at the end. But he is 0/6 on 2 point FG and 3/11 on 3 point FG. That is worse than you know who last year. He IS taking care of the ball and playing a lot minutes, too. So, that is great news and a big improvement from last year.
Our starting perimeter players (Stokes, Edwards, Iwundu) are a combined 6/28 from three or 21%. This, I maintain, will begin to be a big problem as coaches get more and more film on us.
Wade is actually shooting better from 3 (5/9) than he is from 2 (5/10). Overall, his shooting is awesome. He needs to do it more. He'll get there. The more comfortable he becomes, the more aggressive he'll be. But 19 shots in 3 games for arguably our best shooter? More Wade please.
Brown is playing 6 fewer minutes per game than Stokes (19.7 and 25.7). This is a head scratcher for me. Brown has played well enough on both ends of the floor to warrant 25+ mpg.
Here are some overall numbers for our big minute getters:
Edwards 31 mpg
53/25/80
17/6.7/4
Iwunde 31.6 mpg
47/0/67 yuck
15.3/5/4
Brown 19.7 mpg
43/33/86 I like these #s from a frosh early
12.3/2.3/1.3 much more of a scorer than facilitator
Wade 26.7 mpg
52/56/72 shoot more please
13.3/4/.7
Hurt 19.3
50/25/100
9.7/5.3/.7
Wes and Justin are getting to the line nearly 7 times per game. Wade is getting there 6 times per game.
Here is the link if you want to check it out. There are some advanced stats but it's a little early for those.
