Heard over the weekend that Clint Robinson was starting for the nationals... which is incredible...
Currently in the Majors, we have Odo, Monty, Clint, Giovatella, Aviles and i'm sure, more i'm forgetting...
Add in a rather strange run of 1st round draft picks who make the big leagues, but just simply are not "elite" and it's quite clear that DM can identify fringe to decent MLBers... which actually has significant trade value (or at least, DM likes to trade for it.... Elliot Johnson, the astros players)... He's also been able to sign players.... and give them an opportunity...
my point is... DM should be running this like a discount department store... When Frenchy showed anything, he should have been traded for a prospect... when Melky did, he should have too... Same for blanton, Frasor... whatever... because DM has proven he can fill holes with major league talent...
This was brought up in the other royals thread... that DM runs this like a big-market club... he should be flipping talent constantly and gambling... he clearly can win a trade, like the greinke one... if he was focused on small-market things, there is no reason the farm system shouldn't be a top 5 one right now...
