As many of you know I am one of the more positive posters on here when it comes to kstate football, that being said I believe that changes need to be made this off-season for the program to go from a 7-9 win ceiling to a nationally relevant program. That being said I wanted to rank the assistant coaching staff and see what the thoughts of others were on here.
1: Brain Anderson: his room has the best player on the team and his recruiting efforts in Georgia have been wildly impressive, I don’t see him necessarily moving up a ton in the coaching world, but we need him on this staff.
2: The Klandy man: His secondary appears to develop players well and he is also good on the recruiting trail. With continued success will likely move up in the coaching world, but for now very glad to have him
3: Connor Riley: his offensive line has been solid-good for most of his time here and has developed some young guys nicely. Needs to be more consistent however. Recruiting efforts have been even with first tier target misses. Seems likely to move up in the coaching world at some point
THESE THREE ARE MUST KEEPS WITH FAIRLY CLOSE TO TOTAL JOB SECURITY
4: Van Malone: His corners haven’t been great, but it is a very tough position and there has been good development. His recruiting hasn’t really lived up to what we initially thought, but he’s still a positive on the staff, could probably be in category one. Seems unlikely to move up a ton in the coaching world but could if recruiting picks back up.
5: Mess: I know we are all sour on him right now, but he has mostly been neutral as far as coaching duties go at kstate, his recruiting has also been good. Unlikely to move up in the coaching world
6/7: Tui/Wyatt: neither of them do much recruiting, but the play of their units has been very strong. Unlikely to move up in the coaching world
WOULD PROBABLY HAVE VAN A STEP ABOVE THESE GUYS. OVERALL THEY BELONG ON THE STAFF, BUT WOULDNT BE DEVASTATED IF THEY MOVED ON OR WENT ELSEWHERE
8: Klein: Has had some good recurring wins at the time, but like Malone, those appear to be fading. Our qb room needs to show improvement, although I also do not think it is all on them either. Would like to move up in the coaching world, but results right now don’t match that.
9: Stanard: just hardly know anything about this guy, his unit was awful last year, but they actually have been much better this year. Would need more to move up in the coaching world
10: Jason Ray: actually isn’t as cemented at the bottom as he would’ve been last year. His recruiting has ticked up, but sweet god his units have been awful. Would need more to move up in the coaching world
CUTTING STANARD DOESNT IMPROVE THE TEAM REALLY, BUT THE OTHER TWO ARE EXPENDABLE AND ARE WHERE WE NEED TO GO ANOTHER DIRECTION IMO
