There is an article currently on Yahoo Sports relating to a lawsuit filed by a former woman rower at KU that claims she was raped in 2014 by a Jayhawk football player while she lived in Jayhawk Towers. The lawsuit was filed by Daisy Tackett, a former student athlete who was on the women's rowing team at the time. Her parents joined in the suit claiming that KU is misleading the public by representing that campus housing is safe".
Jayhawk Towers not safe?...Nah, how can that be. Such outstanding players as Sherron (elevator) Collins and the Morris (BB gun) twins were fixtures there, as well as many others (Tharp, etc.) that managed to get their names in the news for reasons other than the Dean's honor roll. Now I see why KU wants to build those new dorms for athletics and tear down Jayhawk Towers; lot of bad memories there.
