Do you see the threat of a running QB opening up the offense a bit more? — purplejumper
For this offense to operate properly, it has to maintain the threat of a quarterback running game. Ertz can run, but either the coaches are reluctant to let him do so or he’s shying away from it. The ground game will go nowhere unless he’s a threat.
It may be time to look at bringing Alex Delton specifically for a series or two to add the running threat, but we all know how well the fan base treated such an arrangement between Jake Waters and Daniel Sams. They turned it into a tug-of-war, when Coach Snyder was simply trying to move the football.
Spot on. But arguably worse, it also appeared to create division within the team, and especially a couple OL. I think Bill can tolerate the fan controversy, but a divided locker room is a different story. Problem is, if he stays with Jesse, and this offense doesn't start moving, that division is likely to occur on its own.
Still, I agree with you-/mixing Alex in SITUATIONALLY could really provide a boost and makes sense...so long as it doesn't lead people--in the stands or the locker room--to draw bigger conclusions and form coalitions based on unrealistic expectations.
