This is going to be in message board form and probably shorter than usual but got some things to share.
1) Jaren Kanak is visiting Kansas State this weekend. I think it is a huge indicator of which way he is leaning and that is towards the Wildcats. His tone on Nebraska has shifted entirely and I think this is more of a visit to confirm his feelings, rather than trying to still figure things out. In my mind, he could be a Wildcat very soon.
2) Linebacker dominoes are starting to fall pretty rapidly. Though, to be fair, none of the ones that have fallen really impact anyone else all that much, besides maybe Ernest Hausmann when he committed to Nebraska. For the others considering the Huskers, they have to consider/think about how much space is left. That could mean something to Gavin Meyers, for example. Furthermore, Kaiden Turner picked Indiana. That doesn't shake what anyone else will do, but I also don't think K-State was pushing much at all on that front. They're still full speed ahead on Carson WIllich, who seems pretty torn between the two schools.
3) Willich and Will McLaughlin are the other linebacker names, in addition to Kanak and Meyers. McLaughlin recently visited the Wildcats, as our Josh Helmholdt revealed yesterday. He visited last week. Yes, I didn't know that. I still have him going to Iowa State, but will need to do some more digging on him. They clearly have more of a chance than I am giving them credit for and that visit is proof of that. Willich may visit Manhattan at the end of March or early April. If he does, it will be with Silas Etter, the commit. They're talking about it, but they haven't planned it or set it at the moment. If he does, it starts to make me like Kansas State's chances over Iowa State. As of now, I don't have a call on Willich, but the Cyclones would take him and I think they're on level footing with the Wildcats.
4) K-State recently offered 2023 QB Avery Johnson of Maize. They were the third to do so, after Iowa State and TCU. He does work out with the same group that had Noah Bolticoff, who was the offensive lineman from Rose Hill that flipped from the Wildcats to the Horned Frogs. I don' think that will be a problem, though. He has a lot of both Kansas and Kansas State fans in his family. His grandpa is K-State's biggest cheerleader. After talking with many about this recruitment, K-State will absolutely be given a shot to win it and I see him taking multiple visits to Manhattan during his recruiting process. Additionally, his sister went to Wichita State for softball, so staying home for school is nothing new for them, which is a solid sign for Chris Klieman and company.
I'd also like to point out that he's a heck of a prospect, and despite the 2022 class being pretty loaded inside the state, 2023 might be better. Also, now that Dasan McCullough has moved to Indiana, I don't know if there are any prospects in 2022 that I would take over Avery Johnson. Actually, I know I wouldn't. He's that good.
5) Short and sweet. Two names that fans may want to be familiar with because I think the Wildcats have a huge lead for at the moment: Lee's Summit North tight end Gracen Bell and St. Louis (De Smet) safety Kaleb Purdy.
