Does the departure of Dimel and perhaps the departure of Hayes solve most of current players' issues with K-State as well as most of our issues in recruiting?
Much has been made about potential transfers, players unhappy with coaching, and recruiting being hurt by the age & personalities on our staff. I believe there is some truth to those rumors, but, as always, the message gets muddled by the telling and retelling of the rumors.
I also believe that any player in their right mind would be turned off by Dimel's play calling and offense, I am less sure about Hayes. However, both of them are a bit "out of touch" and don't seem to be good at recruiting. Snyder, on the other hand, plays the "grandpa" card pretty well when it comes to recruiting and that is attractive to some players and their folks.
The "loss" of Dana Dimel has already proven to be addition by subtraction as at least 2 key players - Barnes and Risner - rumored to be transferring/declaring have publicly stated that they're returning. On the offensive side, at least, naming Klein - who seems to be universally loved boy the players and recruits - as OC or co-OC would seem to put a stop to any more transfer rumors.
With those things in mind a few questions for the board...
(1) Isn't K-State more attractive to recruits with Snyder - a legend - at the helm with new (young) co-ordinators than K-State with Dana Dimel and Tom Hayes?
(2) Isn't K-State in a better recruiting position with Snyder/young co-ordinatorsthan if we hired Leavitt or another "safe" coach not named Veneables?
