There is a lot to like about the newcomers. Like, a lot.
A. Gordon plays hard. Loves to run the floor. He’s got a good body for a frosh. Sturdy lower body (@The Manhatter). I hope they don’t force too much weight on him early (I feel like this happened with Mike and he’s in a good spot now after trimming down). He will get there naturally. He has a good feel on offense. Not just scoring but moving the ball, too. He saw the floor and was a more than willing passer.
Murphy struggled handling passes and finishing around the basket. But based on what we’ve heard out of practice, sounds like it was just an off night in this regard. He plays hard, too. Very locked in on D and intense. Dude had a double double despite not finish some bunnies.

D. Gordon is super intense. He is going to be a good one. Just like X and Barry - locked in. He has very, very quick hands. I see him being just like X in the sense that he is a dog, we don’t really run sets for him, and he just goes out there and leave his imprint on the game in a variety of ways. Just goes about his business and balls.
Sloan was impressive. This dude sees the floor and makes good decisions. So many times guys will dribble up the floor. He’s always looking to push it with a pass. His passes were snapped off and on point/time. His stroke looks great. His on ball D was not very good and I wondered how much of it had to do with the fact he was guarding the tiny super quick guard from ESU. But Mike didn’t have much trouble with him when he was on him, so... He definitely adds an element to this squad that Barry and Kam didn’t - play making for others. If he can play okay D, he’s going to get lots of minutes and be great for this team on O.
Having watched this game in person, I didn’t get to listen to Stanbot. One of the things they mentioned Weber saying is how this team could be a better passing team that last year. I can see it. Kam and Barry, for all the great things they offered, were not good passers. Hopefully we see a lot less holding the ball/ISO play and more movement and passing. Keeps the D more honest and will open up more options.
Still waiting on that DM @ksufreak.
