Economic principle: whatever you subsidize you get more.
Principle: what helped U.S. unique is the Federal government can do no more than an individual can do. In other words, I can protect myself, I cannot legitimately demand my neighbor to give me money for myself or someone else, no matter how worthy the cause.
Imagine if the government wasn't funding the 300+ agencies with hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats, that most have NO idea what they do?
A substantially smaller government, IMO, a more constitutional government, would allow an environment for free enterprise to flourish and thus create jobs. In turn, welfare and food stamps are significantly reduced with private charitable organizations, churches and individuals to pick up the slack in providing legitimate charity.
