As already posted in another thread, 2015 Los Angeles Future College Prep wing Ron Freeman took an official visit to K-State this past weekend. I was able to speak with the 6-foot-5, 172-pound athletic guard on Monday night and here is what I was able to gather about the situation.
On the visit:
"The type of vibe I got from K-State was really just family oriented. They just welcomed me in with open arms and treated me well. It was the best visit I’ve ever taken for a college. It was really fun."
On assistant coach Alvin Brooks III, the coach recruiting him:
"He’s a really nice guy. I remember when he first called me. He explained everything about K-State and pretty much made me feel really comfortable with everything. It made me feel really comfortable and happy to be there. He’s more of like a guy you can relate to when he recruits you."
That's all for the fluff. Here is the deal:
Freeman wants to play at K-State, but he doesn't have an offer yet. If that comes, his plan is to commit, sign and join the program in early July. As it stands, it's either K-State or maybe the junior college route if some other high-majors don't pop up. Freeman was a late qualifier. He qualified academically about a month ago and this visit was set up when he did. In a nutshell, he's just waiting for the call with the offer. Whether it comes is a toss up, and as I had mentioned before, this is in K-State's court.
Freeman has the skill set to be a nice versatile wing. He's got the athleticism, for sure, but needs some weight. Maybe about 20 pounds. He does have a 6-foot-8 wingspan and can defend multiple positions. It would be a nice piece.
I'll stay on this and post anything additional that I learn.
