observations.
I led you astray when I suggested the Royals might choose Martinez over Fuentes. Martinez was the better hitter, but Fuentes is clearly the better athlete. He runs well and is a slasher/hacker at bat. His arm appears to be below average, but he can really cover ground as well as be respectable in all three outfield positions.
I also was incorrect about Omar. He has been throwing pretty well. Last year he was throwing from below his belt, he is now releasing from a three quarter delivery. Looks to be healing nicely. If he can go tomorrow, I will feel I really misjudged his throwing.
Kennedy is a real nibbler so he needs all his pitches to be working to be effective.
Butera and Cruz are locked in a battle to be the back up catcher with Butera seemingly in the lead now.
Herrera and Davis are in mid season form, with Davis doing a little experimenting with several pitches.
Unfortunately Duffy is still plagued with wildness of both his pitches. This is all that separates him from being a 15 game winner. He is controlling his hyperactive nature pretty well. Good luck Danny!
Merrifield may be challenging Colon for a back up spot as a utility man. I mentioned last year that I liked him when he was in minor league camp, he is doing at least as well in major league camp this year.
One added thought, Mondesi will be a star in the near future. He is a great defender, with a cannon for an arm. The only problem might be he is filling out and eventually will probably be too large for a ss or second baseman.
Is Cuthbert injured, I haven`t seen him for awhile? Your thoughts?
