Like most K-State fans, I became sold on Alex Barnes in the latter half of last season.

Fact of the matter, Alex did not have one carry in the season opener against Stanford, nor did Alex carry the ball one time against West Virginia or Texas Tech.
K-State missed a potential game winning field goal, but you gotta wonder if Alex would have made the difference against West Virginia.

Alex received 8 carries in mop-up duty against Florida Atlantic and 1 carry against Mo State (2nd half was not played).

It wasn’t until "after" the Oklahoma State game (9th game of the season) when fans began to question why Alex had not been playing all year and why he wasn’t starting…etc.
Alex rushed for 72 yards on just 8 carries (9 yards per rush) against Okie State.

Before the Okie State game, Alex had 10 carries in Big 12 games (1 = OU, 4 = Texas, 5 = Iowa State).

Against Baylor (game after Okie State), Alex = 19 carries for 129 yards.
Next, the ku game, Alex had 10 carries for 103 yards before being knocked out of the game with a helmet on helmet hit.

Alex would not play the rest of the season (including the bowl game).

During his freshman season, Alex rushed the ball 56 times for 442 yards = 7.9 yards per carry.

To put Alex’s average yard per carry in perspective. Many talking heads believe that Justice Hill at Okie State is the best returning back in the Big 12. Justice averaged 5.5 yards per carry last season. Hill’s sample size last season was much bigger = 206 carries for 1,142 yards.

Alex did not have enough rushing attempts to qualify for the yards per carry rankings, but he would have been #1 in Power 5 Conference backs (#3 over-all).

I would be the first to admit that Alex’s sample size is relatively small, but at the same time, I saw what I saw.
I’m guessing on average, Alex is going to receive around 15 carries per game.
Silmon 5 to 10 -- McCoy 3 to 5 and Warmack will be used as a scat back.

Justice Hill is a very good running back, no doubt about it, but I believe this time next year, the talking heads are going to be saying that Alex Barnes is the best returning back in the Big 12 … yeah baby !!

** prediction is based on Alex staying healthy this season.
