This will be an interesting case to follow. New Hampshire is suing Massachusetts, for taxing its residents that work for Massachusetts-based companies but have been working at home during the pandemic. Most states assess income taxes based on where the work is being performed, with those working at home, being assessed by where their home office is located. However, 5 states (Mass and NY being the biggest) assess income taxes regardless of whether the employee is working from home or the corporate office (even when the home office is out of state). This would have damaging effects on NY, especially, if a lot of these jobs never come back and remain "remote" from places like Connecticut.
