I had a little time, so I charted Bowman's passing. Not scientific--I was fast forwarding thru plays. But I did see something that was interesting.
I charted 27 passes. I didn't use deflections or a couple mis-fires Bowman threw. Of those 27--14 were thrown to a stripe (25,30, etc). Since most of their drives started on the 20 or 25, it was easy to see Bowman was using the convergence of the sideline and the stripe to target his throws. The receivers also sat down on junction of sideline and stripe on outs. On crossing patterns, the ball was delivered at the stripe--almost always five yards from the line of scrimmage.
When the ball was halfway between stripes, the ball was delivered exactly five yards downfield on crossing routes. Over half his passes were exactly 5 yards, and the longer throws were precisely 10 yards and 15 yards from the LOS.
If our corners sat down at those points exactly five yards from scrimmage on the out patterns, and LBs drop 5 yards from the LOS, the receivers would have to make adjustments. Those adjustment should cause Bowman to hesitate, which gives our DEs more time to get to him. Texas only pressured Bowman a few times all game.
To me, these are "tells" to the TT offense. Maybe our D can exploit them.
