How many years has it been since a K-State quarterback made it through an entire season without one or more games either lost or the playbook diminished to either protect or accommodate an injury?
Klein's first year? I don't remember if Waters was dinged in his first year, but I remember that Sam's was that year. I don't remember for sure if Coffmann was ... But the point is that those years have been the exception.
Do you think Snyder would give more time to a second quarterback if he thought the separation in capability were lesser. After what's happened, would he be more aggressive in proving a ready second man?
Two quarterbacks didn't work as well as we'd like in the Waters/Sam's era, but the reasons it didn't perhaps aren't insurmountable ... and prudence may force a more aggressive approach to tempering the second man.
I've got to think this has to have occurred to Snyder. The trick, I think, may to be sure the pecking order is always clear to everyone. Knight could be a key to establishing a progression that would serve dual purposes in preparing both for the possibility of injury and growing a successor for next year.
Just an idle thought ... After watching guys on the field when they shouldn't be too often.
