I haven't done this for more than a decade, but I have a question.
I remember that we explored Tad Boyle when we hired Weber, and he wasn't interested. Clearly, Brad Underwood wanted the job, but we weren't interested for one reason or another (lack of D1 head coaching experience?) The Gotlieb issue was frivolous, then and now. NCAA problems disqualify (Pearl?) Assistants and lower level coaches don't count: See Underwood above.
What qualified coach (D1 HC experience) was available during that period ... was hired somewhere else ... and has been successful in that job in the intervening years? No ulterior motive in the question. Not trying to make some point other than I'm curious if a top-notch coach somewhere was fitted for the job (by ADJC rules) and we (universal "we" but primarily ADJC) missed. Head coaches who moved that year can be considered.
I cringed when the Weber hire was made, warmed to it a bit as time went on, and now I'm trying to maintain my balance until the season ends. I have to admit that it's getting really hard because there's a temptation to want Weber gone just to quiet the ridiculous gloom, doom and damnation one-upsmanship on here.
But who was in the hopper when Martin left, and has established a track record that says we should have hired that specific person?
