Aside from all of the other details from today and before, throw out all of the HCIW stuff, etc. Given what we know, Leavitt WAS available to be just a DC at K-State. He could have easily left Colorado for K-State instead of Oregon.
So shouldn't the biggest takeaway be that Bill decided against letting Hayes retire, and hiring Leavitt as DC? Bill clearly had conversations with the man who took Colorado from 114th in the nation, to 85th in year one, to 19th in year two. And he was obviously willing to leave Colorado, and yet Bill chooses to not do it.
We all know the real reason is that Bill won't fire a coach. But shouldn't that question be asked? Shouldn't he be called on the carpet for not making a decision that would have improved the team?
