Haven't been for several years (shame on me), but here are some takeaways:
Pretty good crowd for a Monday afternoon 5:30 tipoff. Both sides were nearly full and both end zones nearly empty.
Stanford band, dancing lady Santa helpers and their tree mascot are a hoot - have never seen a group have so much fun at a game. I'm not sure they knew where they were, but it would have been a lot of fun to party with them in Aggieville after the game. They laughed when Willie did the K-S-U chant late in the game, which could make sense to an outsider. While a very entertaining group, I'm glad they are not representatives of KSU.
I'll swear the Stanford cheerleaders were wearing thongs - the most butt cheeks I have seen since my last trip to a beach in Florida. Some of their cheerleaders had big schnorbs, which also differentiates them from ours.
Stanford team was far superior to our Lady Cats (Captain Obvious). We played hard, but were clearly over-matched at nearly all positions.
Referees were pretty poor and would do great in the Men's Big 12.
It was strange to me that Coach Mittie didn't always address the team during timeouts. When he did, it was for the last 30-45 seconds of the timeouts. Had his assistant coach do most of the talking. Frankly, he appeared arrogant to me standing on the court away from the huddle. I did like the fact that he got on the refs when he needed to (unlike an unnamed coach at KSU). Mittie seems to be bringing in some real talent and the future appears bright for our Lady Cats.
Overall, an enjoyable afternoon in spite of the butt cheek-kicking.
