In addition to Derek Young’s excellent pinned thread on players not in pads (looking forward to him continuing this feature all season), some other player participation notes:
In addition to the mentions from Derek (Delton, Silmon, Newlan, and Heath) - and excluding True Freshmen - the following scholarship players did not play and do not have remaining redshirts available: Nick Walsh (never needed to punt!); Alec Ruth (listed on Depth Chart); Jordon Robertson; CJ Reese and Jordan Noil.
The following scholarship players did not play but MAY be redshirt candidates (sorry – haven’t done the research): Tevita Fehoko, Da’Quan Patton, Daron Bowles, and Jahron McPherson*.
Drew Wiley was the sole true freshman to play. How many saw that coming? Will he be the only one this year?
All the above presumes that the official Player Participation stats are accurate – They often have been wrong in the past…
*Some conflicting info as to whether McPherson is on scholarship or not. At a minimum, he was a player getting some preseason praise.
