Please don't think this is just an old fart whining always whining about the way things are done nowadays -- I seriously would like to know the answer. With an 11:00 am game and not a cloud in the sky or in the day's forecast, there will be at least 6 1/2 to 7 hours before it begins to get even slightly darker. So why do they turn the stadium lights on for the game given that the light they emit has essentially no impact on how bright it is on the field? The only explanation I can think of is that is simply a policy they are always to be on so that there is never judgment involved if it does get cloudy.
