Paul Horner has become the face of the "fake news" engine that swamped facebook and the election. Horner has indicated he was writing his articles as a version of satire. He would hear some BS rumor from Trump supports then write a fake news story thinking he would make it so insane and ludicrous that no one could believe it. But low and behold the Trump supporters would pick it up as fact and pass it around millions of times.
And the left had their version of it, but it was no where near as prevalent in the thinking of the supporters as it was for the right. One study found that 38% of news shared by the right wing on FB was written to be fake.
Think about that, over 1 in 3 articles the right passed around were Onion-level true.
