If Tang retains Shane I expect they land 2022 guard out of Massachusetts, Avery Brown, adding to the 2022 class with Taj Manning. There’s not a guarantee either of them will be at K-State, but that’s my gut feeling right now. I’ll learn what Manning thinks about the hire soon, whenever it gets officially announced. That would fill the 2 scholarships already open.
Don’t know who will leave but could see 3-5 transferring out. Most likely in my eyes would be EZ, Luke, and Linguard.
Lewis and Bradford would be the other two I wonder about. Lewis being the most athletic big on the roster but very injury prone, wouldn’t be surprised one way or the other.
It isn’t for being athletic but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Bradford stick around for another year, but that’s probably dependent on him buying in and committing to transforming into a better version of his freshman self.
Miguel is a wildcard, but if he wants to stay in MHK, it isn’t the worst thing and he will compete for playing time, but he might be behind some guys if they make good in the portal.
Based on how Tang’s defense will likely look, the biggest priority will be adding 2 athletic, ready to play transfer bigs. They will also need a ready to play transfer guard/wing. Two or even three transfer guard/wings would be tremendous to make up for losing Mark Smith and Mike McGuirl.
Jerome Tang recruited Baylor guard LJ Cryer. I have a hard time believing Cryer leaves his situation at Baylor. But we can dream a little. Will be fun to follow who they go after.
Whether Shane is retained or not, I think WVU transfer Jalen Bridges should be recruited to K-State.
Remember this is all me just spitballing to get the conversation going, but here’s a snapshot of what I’m kind of thinking:
1. Nowell
2. Pack
3. Transfer guard/wing
4. Ish Massoud (or transfer wing)
5. Transfer big
6. Transfer wing (or Ish Massoud)
7. Transfer big
8. Selton Miguel or Luke Kasubke
9. Max Edwards
10. Taj Manning
11. Avery Brown or other HS recruit or transfer guard
12. Landers or Linguard or transfer wing
13. Seryee Lewis or Bradford or EZ
