Spring practice schedule

I just read the article naming the player reps this season, and noted that spring practice doesn't begin until April 1 and concludes with the spring game in KC 4/25. Here in Oklahoma, both OU and OSU are in their second week of spring practice, and I'm sure all 4 Texas schools are well underway also. Don't believe KU or ISU have started yet, but on the other hand Nebraska started a week ago. I suspect a lot of this is weather related, but if KSU spent all that money on an indoor practice facility, why couldn't we also start earlier? Spring break at OSU is not until next week, so they will have to break the practice schedule up for that. Would that be a reason why we don't start practice earlier?
