I typically re-watch the game and give a synopsis of each quarter or just give my thoughts overall. I've decided to change it up this week. Evaluating where the team is at the mid-point of the year -
My personal belief before the season even started was we would be 3-3 at this point. I hoped to sneak one out at Oklahoma State and thought maybe 4-2 was possible. So in actuality, in most fans eyes, we are exactly where we thought we would be. The problem here is how we got to 3-3. Injuries and play calling seem to be the largest issues. I am not going to disagree with anything anyone has posted on here because the truth of the matter, for this season, the playbook is out on our team. As Wallace and other posters mentioned in previous threads, Offense - Wait until the qb changes the play then you change into your defensive scheme, you blitz our offensive line and they can't pick it up, Hubener knows where he is throwing the ball before he snaps it and rarely looks off a defender from his intended target. Defense - we play our corners 10 yards off and will give you the short throws, if you have speed our corners don't and rarely look for the ball in pass coverage, we tire out by most 4th quarters because we don't rotate our d linemen = minimal pressure. Anyone who watches any type of film can determine this.
So where do we go from here? Listening to coach, the players, fans, GPC posters and everyone admitted to being embarrassed yesterday. One of two things happen with an embarrassment like that - 1) you fold up shop and have a lost season or 2) you come back more focused and more upset and hit the next SOB in the mouth. Let's look at option 2 first, this is exactly what Oklahoma did yesterday. They overlooked Texas last week and Texas took them to town. OU was mad, determined, and to advantage of every area. They came out and made a statement yesterday, will they be able to keep up that kind of mentality who knows. Now option 1) you fold up shop. No finer example that the Kansas City Chiefs this season. They were embarrassed week 2 against Denver, 5 turnovers and a Jamal Charles fumble that ended the game, and let that game define their season getting rolled the following weeks after.
What will the CATS do? As a football team, as a fan base, as a GPC message board? I'll address these issues further in my next post.
