Ironically enough, I was just talking to a friend a little bit about TCU and then J-Mart writes about them.
TCU is a big story in this young season. And there no doubt that Dixon has done a great job.
Talk about a team making a 180.... TCU lost 7 straight games to close out the regular Big 12 season last season (including a lost at home to K-State that all but sealed their NCAA fate). Then TCU turns around and knocks off ku in the quarter finals of the Big 12 tourney, before falling in the semis to Iowa State by 21.
Then TCU made an impressive NIT run to win the tourney.
TCU's biggest win in the NIT was in round 2 over Iowa in Iowa City (won by 2 in OT).
Granted, the hawkeyes were smarting over missing the NCAA tourney despite going 10 & 8 in the Big 10.
Georgia Tech, whom TCU beat in the NIT title game was a 6th seed in the NIT. TCU was a 4 seed.
TCU knocked off a 5 seed, 1 seed (Iowa), 6 seed, 4 seed, and a 6 seed to win the NIT.
TCU's biggest win on this young season was at a neutral site victory over Nevada (84 to 80). Nevada is a good team (their only 2 losses have come to Texas Tech and TCU).
SMU was also a good win at home for TCU.
I believe TCU is very good, but most importantly, the Horn Frogs have a great deal of confidence.
Believing is half the battle. I'm not counting on K-State, so I would love to see TCU knock ku off the Big 12 throne.
But at the same time, I'm still a little hesitant to say TCU is truly a Top 15 team.
GO STATE !
